VCE - Victorian Certificate of Education
The VCE is designed to be a flexible course of study and give a balanced education. It is usually taken over 2 years and each subject comprises two units, one for each semester in the year. Most students do 22 units, 12 whilst in Year 11 and 10 in Year 12. Many students do a VCE study (the VCE term for subject) whilst in Year 10 and many also do a Year 12 study as part of their Year 11 program.

VET - Vocational Education and Training
Vocational Education subjects generally involve:
· The completion of a certificate which is a nationally recognized qualification;
· On the job training in the form of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL);
· A one or 2 year course.
VET subjects are a normal part of the VCAL or VCE, and contribute to their successful completion. As a general rule, every 100 hours of VET training equates to one VCE/VET or VCAL unit towards a student’s learning program. These programs may also contribute towards an ENTER score (for tertiary entrance).

VCAL - Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning
The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning is a post-compulsory years certificate that is based on applied learning. ‘Applied learning’ means that it is a hands-on course that aims to develop skills, which will help prepare students for further education, training or employment.
Structure:
All VCE, VET and VCAL classes usually have relatively small numbers of students enrolled which provides senior students with the opportunity for individual attention and an excellent learning environment.
