Thank you to the local primary schools who attended the Education Week activities organised by our VCAL students. The theme for this year is 'Celebrate the Arts', students undertook a variety of activities including collaborative mindful colouring, chalk drawing, sculptural teepees and foam stamping.
A number of our Year 12 students headed into Bairnsdale to listen to advice from the Tertiary Information Service (TIS) about how to apply for tertiary study. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to speak with a wide range of tertiary representatives, including all major Universities, and key TAFE and independent providers from across the state. Following this we went to Apex Park and had a delicious lunch before returning to school for our afternoon class.
Recently the Year 7 girls and Year 8 girls volleyball teams travelled to Morwell to compete in the Gippsland Volleyball Championships. Both teams were fantastic, playing as a team and supporting each other throughout each of their 3 matches.
Well done to all who participated in yesterday's annual Fun Run. Scores have been tallied, a huge congratulations to Pelican! Their efforts definitely show that participation matters!
Our Year 9 & 10 Outdoor Education class recently hiked in the Mitchell River National Park. It was hard work but they are already looking forward to their next trip!
Thank you to all of the staff, students, and especially all of the families who attended our Open Night on Wednesday this week. It was wonderful to see such great support from our local community. We can't wait to see you all again next year as part of our Year 7 cohort!
A huge congratulations to our VCAL students who planned and organised another successful Market Day! Also a massive thank you goes out to the local primary schools, community groups and our students who also contributed to making this day a success. A total of $313.25 from the BBQ & Out of uniform day will be donated to Melon's Cottage.
Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. Every year, thousands of people join together to pay tribute to and remember those who have served. Staff and students of Lakes Entrance Secondary College paid their respects yesterday and would like to thank the representatives from our local RSL who joined us.
What a lovely way to end the term! Today our group of students who received the most positive recognition awards for the term went out and about, stopping off at Metung and then to the Footbridge Mini Golf, Lolly Shop & Ice Cream Shack before having a delicious feast of fish and chips.
Our annual Boardies Day was a huge success, raising a total of $429.43 for our local Surf Lifesaving Club! Congratulations to our VCAL students who planned and organised this fabulous event.
Well done to all of our students who participated in the inter-school East Gippsland Volleyball and Tennis Championships today in Bairnsdale. Well done on representing the college at this fabulous event!
Our Year 8 students had a fabulous week at camp experiencing all that Ballarat has to offer including Kryal Castle and Sovereign Hill. We are happy to welcome them home again and look forward to hearing all about it!
Our Year 10 students attended a 'Careers Taster Day' aimed to providing careers awareness and enhancing aspirational development. This was done via a tour of various local enterprises and by providing a structured and managed environment in which they can engage with local employers and gain an understanding of their business and general expectations of the workforce. Everyone had a great day, thank you to all of the local community members and businesses who assisted in making this day a reality!
We are very pleased to welcome back our Year 7 students who attended camp at Mt Bogong. We hope you all had a fun, exciting and challenging week!
Our VET Sports and Recreation students, as well as the leaders of our college had the fortune to take part in a session led by members of the St Kilda Football Club. Discussion was had about what it is to be a leader at a football club and how students can use these skills to further their leadership aspirations.
Our Year 11 & 12 students saw some spectacular scenery on their VCE Outdoor Education Camp at Wilson's Promontory this week. They had a great trip and are already looking forward to their next camp!
The Industry Information Session which our VCAL students took part in during their Work Related Skills class was a great success. Thanks to all of the presenters who attended and spoke to our students.

Our annual Swimming Sports was a huge success, with a large proportion of our school participating in events. Well done to everyone who took part, this was a fabulous display of what a supportive environment we encourage at Lakes Entrance secondary College!
What a year! Our annual Presentation Evening was a huge success. We would like to congratulate all of our recipients and thank our sponsors, staff and families who made the evening such a success.
At the end of the year our Year 7 - 10 students had the opportunity to undertake a range of exciting and engaging activities. These included laser tag, archery, bike riding, paddle boats, cooking, dance, movies and much much more!
To celebrate the last day of Year 8 - 12 classes our VCAL students organised a BBQ and music in the courtyard at lunchtime. Well done to all involved - we hope everyone enjoyed the event!
Welcome to our new Year 7 class. Our Transition Program runs for four days and we are very pleased that you are a part of our college community. We look forward to seeing what a fabulous effort you put in to your education over the next six years!
Our Year 12 students celebrated their graduation with a dinner at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club to share their success with family, friends and members of the College staff. We are very proud of you and hope you had a fabulous evening!
Last Friday a group of our Year 7 girls headed down to Dandenong to participate in the State Volleyball Championships. They played a fantastic 3 matches. Lost first 2 games 2-0. Played well in the last game which ended up being 1 set each then lost the third 16-14. It was a great day! Our players were Brooke Perrett, Abbey Bills, Chelsea Lavery, Sophie McKenzie, Paige Carter and Hannah Korwa. Assistant Coach was Julia Baker.
At the end of last week a group of our students participated in the interschool mountain biking competition held at Mallacoota. It was a difficult track and a warm day but our students gave it their best!
To celebrate the many successes of our VCAL program, the school held its annual presentation and morning tea in the library. All VCAL students delivered to parents, teachers, members of the School Council and other stakeholders, presentations highlighting some of their achievements in the projects they undertook throughout the year.
Congratulations to our graduating 'Class of 2017'. Today we celebrated their last day of schooling before our VCE cohort commence exams next week and out VCAL students wrap up the last of their assessments. We are very proud of you all and wish you well in the coming weeks. Feel free to drop in anytime if you need a hand with anything and we will see you all at Graduation!
Well done to our Year 7 student Rielly Wigg who travelled to Albert Park to represent Lakes Entrance Secondary College in long jump at the State Championships. Rielly did not place but put in a tremendous effort jumping 4.47 metres. Well done Rielly!
During health & PE Week Breakfast Club ran each morning.There was also be numerous activities before, during and after school including; Boxing, Cricket, Walk/Run, Dance, Bootcamp and Downball. Our 'Retro Active Wear / Favourite Sporting Star' dress up day and Jump Rope for Heart events raised much needed funds for the Heart Foundation.
